one of my first cigars was a Romeo y Julieta “Romeo No. 2”. I did not know much about cigars and understood the taste and culture of cigars only a few years later…

28 September, 2018 at 11:11 amBelieve it or not I’ve had very limited Cuban cigar experience. My first one that such though was while I was out on the Summer island in Finland in the sun…. Forget everything else…. Fresh sea air, sun and a Vegueros Cigar. Just fantastic.

I have my first experience with a Cohiba Maduro a great experience becasue i recording we pairing with a cognac hennessey, are a special moment trying this cohiba because the tripple cap is extremely clean and blends well into tge wrapper, nice notes, perfect structure, the thing that i like more are the type of toasting are very slow but produced a perfectly lit foot.

I bought my first cuban cigars from Rome which was a totally new experience for me. The H. Upmann , Por Larranaga and Hoyo de Monterrey were the highlights. I imagine all of the customers on this site know very well the pleasure of having a cuban. Looking forward to buy some more now that the site is finally launched.

My first cigar was a Cohiba Siglo II about a year ago. I didn’t know anything about cigars, but I loved the way it looked and also how it tasted.
Since then I’ve tried different Cuban cigars with different drinks. I love to have coffee or gin tonic as a pairing.

The first time I’ve ever touched and smoked a cigar was with a friend who gave me an H. Upmann Half Corona. For the first time, I quite enjoyed it but I didn’t know much about cigars then. Now I know for sure where I’ll get my next cigar from! 😉 Great site!

26 September, 2018 at 12:35 pmI was 18 having some beers with friends in a pub garden in Kent and one of my friends offered the group each a Romeo &Julieta No.2. We enjoyed them in the pub over a classic English ale and laughs. More recently after a trip to Cuba, R&J No.2 are still a firm go to and I have since repaid my friend for that first cigar!

I think the best way to experience cubans is to have non cubans before, just like I did. You notice the difference straight away. I was about 17 when I had my first Romeo y Julieta and I fell in love immediately with it. You can never go wrong with a cuban.

26 September, 2018 at 9:45 pmMy first cuban cigar was a Romeo y Julietta Tubos No.2 what a shitty 18th birthday cigar that was, but it sparked my interest for cigars and made me find real good cigars like my first Cohiba Behike 52. A cigar I smoked whilst taking a walk during a sunny afternoon, perfect cigar to enjoy before an beer after class on a friday.

27 September, 2018 at 11:13 pmMy first cigar experience was with one of my closest pals, we both had a rising curiosity regarding cuban cigars. So we went to one of the local cigar shops where we used to live, and luckly ran into the owner of the store. We entered and spoke the truth, we didn’t have any clue other than what we had read online. Mr. Sergio gladly spent what I recall to be at least two hours talking and talking about cigars, the different types, history of some brands like Trinidad, how to cut and light a cigar, everything we needed to know to start what would become a great passion for me and David. First cuban cigar we smoked, Hoyo de Monterrey Palmas extra, until this day still one of our favorites.

As I sometimes visited my local cigar shop for some hookah tabacco, the store owner offerd me a cigar and invited my upstairs to his beautiful -gentleman clubish- cigar lounge. My fisrt ever cigar was the Hoyo de Monterey Epicure 2. A sensetional pallet of taste, smell, feeling and experiences. I was in love… During the years I started to appriciate the craftmanship of the cigar and I learn more and more about pairings.

My first Cuban cigar was given to me by an amazing friend, cigar lover and connoisseur. It was a Cohiba Siglo VI… loved it from the beginning. The aroma and apperience spectacular and smoking it was love at first sight. 16 years have past and we still enjoy cigars as often as we can.

28 September, 2018 at 12:01 pmSince I was a kid I always thought that smoking a cigar, especially a cuban, it s only for rich people… but as I grow i was able to understand and know this smoking thing and i realise that it can be anybody s moment. My first cuban was a Partagas Mille Fleur, and I remember how i prepare my self for that moment hahaha, having the drink ready, was a irish whisky, Tullamore, my ashtray, lighting carefully the cigar and enjoy it. From that moment, Partagas it s my favourite brand and i m still ” young” in this cigar world.

28 September, 2018 at 2:29 pmCan’t remember my first cigar (but it would have been a cheap convenience store cigar like Century Sam). I can, however, remember my first Cuban … A Romeo Y Julietta (I think a tubo #2) back around 1997. That changed everything forever. Cheers everyone! 28 September, 2018 at 3:54 pmMy first Cuban was the Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure de Luxe paired with a latte. I was a bit over anxious when i got the box of sticks and didn’t let them sit in the humidor to rest after a long journey. I had to relight every 10 minutes. Rookie mistake. But the flavor was great despite the hard work.

28 September, 2018 at 4:47 pmRight after gradating college I got a job working at a local B&M while I was seeking my first “Real Job”. While working there I asked my boss one night what his thoughts were on Cuban cigars, he shrugged and offered me a Montecristo No.5. We sat down on one of the couches and cut our cigars, the draw was ideal, I toasted the foot and begin to smoke my first Cuban. The cigar was aged well and very smooth but what I remember most was the conversations we had that started from that cigar.

I still have the picture on my instagram account! It was an engagement party and I remember that I was the one who finished the cigar first from all the people who were smoking there! My first cuban cigar, was a Bolivar Royal Coronas, I had just bought it before attending my medic course. It sat in a baggy for months with a boveda pack until I graduated, I just haven’t enjoyed a cigar that much as that night.

29 September, 2018 at 6:35 amMr.C.Mojo – I think my first Cuban cigar was a montecristo which I had on a night out in Cambridge with friends. There was a great little tobacconist with a small walk-in humidor, I don’t think they’re around anymore which is a shame as I will never be able to relive the experience – the intrigue, the excitement, the smell!

30 September, 2018 at 5:07 pmHi Dom, I’m smokopolitan!
I would like to remember my first cuban experience with you and Montefortuna’s friend…
My first Cuban, in the 2005, was a great Hoyo de Monterrey! I brought it to smoke it on a Champagne night (with a Presidente’s cigar by Toscano).
After this situation I can’t stop smoking Cuban cigar!
When I smoke a cigar it’s a moment for me and I can think about everything and about the sense of life…
In the last two years I had started to share my puff with the IG communities with the name Smokopolitan

1 October, 2018 at 3:44 amMy very first cigar experience was cuban, the Romeo y Julieta Churchills. I am a huge admirer of Sir Winston Churchill, and since Sir Winston used to smoke a lot of cigars during his lifetime and RyJ being one of his favourite brands, it seemem befitting.
Light-medium, but very complex. Not too overpowering for a novice at the time and definitely an excellent introductory stick as I entered the world of cigars. I immediately enjoyed it without hesitation, each and every puff giving out new flavours, ones that were unique to me. What an experience. I’ve enjoyed countless cigars until this day, but the memory of that first cigar will remain forever.
Thanks!

My very first Cuban cigar experience, was in late 2012 when I was just 21. I served as a recon sniper in the U.S. Army. I had spent over a year in Afghanistan fighting the taliban. One of my really good friends who I served with was originally born in Cuba; he had shared with me the process of a perfect MonteCristo#2, we had said during our deployment, if we make it home alive, we will smoke an authentic montecristo#2 with a nice single malt scotch… we made it home alive, and it was the day I got home after kissing the ground, I immediately made a V cut in a wonderful Montecristo #2 and proceeded to truly understand the meaning of a “real” Cuban cigar & become a BOTL…
Cheers!
